Wsh.
The door to the stasis pod opened and out fell Nicholas Rush. It was just as Brody had said. It felt like no time had passed at all. At first, Rush was confused, thinking that something had gone wrong. If Eli did this...
No. That wasn't it. Rush looked around. Why weren't the other pods opening up? They had it programmed to release after the Destiny was able to charge up. Rush hurried to a nearby console. Oh this wasn't good. There was some sort of glitch in the system. Rush clicked a few buttons as he tried to figured out the whole situation. This was bad. If he couldn't figure it out, the pods could stay in stasis forever, and if he rushed into things... well, the pods would've been useless anyways.
The Destiny was always old and ran the risk of something happening. There would be others released after him. And he hoped some would be released soon, or he'd have to run this ship all by himself. While the prospect of not having anyone question his authority or his decisions, there was the obvious flaw that he just couldn't do everything himself.
Rush cover his mouth for a moment as he studied the console, hoping something would happen, or he'd come up with something. Anything. Well, at least he could say one thing. It was lucky that he was the one released first. There were few who could solve this besides himself. Well him and Eli.
Speaking of... yes. His pod was active. Somehow he'd fixed it. That was a relief at least. However, they didn't know how long had passed. No, no, first priority was to get people out of these pods.

TJ felt cold. That was the first sensation that she could identify when the stasis pod opened waking her from the long sleep. She blinked a few times; her eyes needed a moment to adjust to the light while her brain tried to catch up with what was going on. Was she supposed to be awake? Was this meant to happen or was the Destiny was in some kind of crisis?
She coughed and tried to move, letting out a soft groan under her breath. It didn't feel like a lot of time had passed but her body was stiff from the stasis and TJ knew it would take her body more time to get used to not being asleep. TJ blinked again, her eyes still somewhat blurry as sensation came back to her body slowly. She took some few moments wondering how long had it actualy passed in the end and if everyone had been okay.
"Eli!" she whispered finally remembering the young man had been left behind. She had hoped he would have fixed the last pod but there was always that doubt in her heart. TJ feared for her first.
She stepped out of her pod and looked around quickly noticing that only another pod was empty at the moment. Rush's? It looked likes his. She let out a sight of relief when she saw Eli on stasis and she smiled softly. TJ's eyes scanned the other pods and she tried not to linger on the Colonel's. She smiled seeing Camille and the Scott.
TJ was thankful that everyone looked okay. As soon as she figured out why she was awake and the others weren't she wold try ti run a diagnostics on the pods. "Rush?" TJ moved closer to one of Destiny's terminals when she finally saw the expedition lead scientist. "What happened? You okay?"

Dreams were such a fickle thing. Especially for someone that had been asleep for... how long had it been? In here there was no concept of time. It was all just one big obscure ball that never seemed to end. Matthew dreamed of his past. Something that he had always wanted to run and forget. He worked so hard to forget, so hard, but in the end there was no running from yourself. Out here in this expanse of time and space there was no running. It would catch up eventually, and little did he know how hard it would hit him once the pod opened. Would it ever open? You let her down? You let everyone down? You are useless. You are nothing. Everyone that you ever loved is gone. They don't want to be here.. with you. They are gone for a reason. Stop! Stop doing this to me. Why are you doing this to me? What have I done to deserve this? I tried so hard. I couldn't... there was nothing... I couldn't stop their deaths. Oh God, it's my fault, isn't it? They're gone because I couldn't stop them. They were taken from me and I couldn't stop them leaving. I am guilty. Please God, please. Let me break from these chains. Let me live! I want to live. I can't fight this forever, I know you are out there, I can feel you out there, watching. Haven't I been through enough? I need to let..
Matthew's eyes began to flutter inside his pod beneath his closed eyelids. Go. It's time for me to try and protect those still aboard this ship. Somewhere in the distance the ship began to shake causing slight shutters throughout the bulkhead. It permeated down the hallways and inside the farthest unexplored rooms, through more empty darkened halls, through empty rooms, through more hallways, through the cafeteria that was once bustling with the crew, and finally stopped in front of his pod. He could feel an entity watching him through the narrow slit of his metallic pod. God? Is that you? Please let me out. I need to fight this. I need to fight for the people on this ship. They need me. I need to go. Fight forever. Fight. No giving up. I can't. I am so sorry. The entity seemed to linger a bit more in front of his pod. Then it moved. And it was gone. No! Where are you going? I need... please come back. I need you to help me. Please God. Please. GODAMNIT. You are worthless, you know that? Always watching from your damn cloud and never answering peoples prayers. People need your good graces and you just.. for the love of everything. Please. What about these people? There are so many out there. When are you going to just be the God that people need you to be and just stop handing out life lessons. We understand. We are flawed, we are human, useless.
The pod began to hiss as steam rose up from the crevasses and the cooling unit. Then everything went black. In the few moments that led up to the bed being defrosted, the only thing that Matthew saw was a face. It was clear and precise, it's edges were crisp and clear, but he could not put a name to the face. In fact the face was almost featureless. Matthew opened his eyes and felt himself abruptly place both hands on the glass viewport feeling the heat beginning to rise and thaw him out which coated the glass with steam. He grunted as he felt his senses returning to him. He placed his head back against the cushion that lined the back of the pod and he closed his eyes, squinting them shut, in a hopeless effort to shake off the cobwebs of his motor functions. "Jesus H. Christ." was the only thing that he could say. He still didn't where he was or what was happening. But the feeling of waking up from cryosleep something that he had never done before was all too intense for him. He felt the place where his hands were pressed against disappear and found himself falling forward. He landed on his hands and knees, hunched over and coughing until it felt like has going to hurl. It wasn't until he began to dry heave that he managed to sit on his haunches, keeping his hands in his lap. He took a breath and looked around carefully.
So many pods. He began to draw in breath, slow and steady. One, two, three, too many. Best to see who had woken up, people woke up right? Oh God, what if I am alone? He slapped the side of his head. Stop. Don't do that now. Be calm. He helped himself up slowly. He placed his hand just under his nose, Christ I feel nauseous. As he walked past the pods not daring himself to look inside, he noticed that two were empty, and it momentarily filled him with joy. Then he began to recall how many were left empty before they went to sleep. There... were.... Young, Chloe, Rush, Greer, the civilian Wray, Jesus what's happening, Tamara, Greer, oh my god Eli. Matthew began to walk faster with each careful nimble step, and the further he went down the row the more his function came back. Soon enough he was half-running. He came upon the last pod. He drew in a breath as he turned the viewport and drew in another as he almost hesitantly came into view. He had no love for the kid, in fact he thought the kid was just flat out weird, but when he saw Eli's face, the joy that he felt flood his soul was nothing comparable to anything he felt before. He let out a sound that almost sounded like a half-cry and half-laugh. He placed his hand flat against the glass and hung his head. Oh, Eli.
He stood there for a few solid moments letting his energy be renewed by Eli's presence, even if he was asleep in his pod. He let out a breath and looked up towards the control room. He took his hand away and took a few steps towards the control room getting a strong feeling.. he couldn't place it. Something felt familiar and he felt drawn to whatever was in the control room. He looked back into the pod room. Two were still empty. He returned his gaze ahead. He drew closer on the control room. He turned a corner and slid closer to the door. Then he felt his heart drop. "Tamara? Dr. Rush! You guys are okay, you don't know how happy I am to see you. What happened with the other pods? Where are we? he felt a slew of questions begin to take hold. He wanted to ask about the Colonel but he already had the answer to that. For now he had forgotten about the dream, the entity, the face, for the most part he was just so happy to see some people awake.

The instant Rush had gotten out of his pod, he'd been at a computer console punching buttons running every diagnostic he could think of, trying to figure out what the hell was going on here. One little blip turned on.
Another pod was reactivating.
Maybe, just maybe this would be easier than he thought. Perhaps he was just over complicating things. If the pods were just delaying and they would just open up on their own, well it wouldn't be too big of a situation. Hell, they didn't know it if had been three years or not. It could be thousands of years, who knew? He couldn't access too much from here. After the last years here on the Destiny, one would think he could do something more about it but this area was still fairly new when they were put under. They had run several tests prior to being confined here otherwise they wouldn't have risked it. Of course, there was no other option.
TJ had emerged from the pod that activated after his. He looked up for just a moment before looking back down at his console. She was more than welcome to run her diagnostics. He'd already run them and found the same thing. The pods could not be opened manually or they risk overload. And he wasn't about to go testing it just in case. Even he wasn't that callous.
He took a step back from his console and ran a hand through his hair, pushing it out of his face. He pressed his lips together and turned towards the pods. "I don't know. There's a malfunction. The pods just don't want to open." He had slowly begun to realize it before they went into the pods, but he trusted Eli, and knew he was smarter. Maybe Eli would have an idea. But of course as the second blip went off, Rush looked hopefully up at Eli's pod which remained closed.
It was Scott. The hope in his face faded almost instantly. Well it could be worse. A fighter, a medic and a brain. The brain meaning him of course. They fulfilled the basics needs, other than basic need of just labor in general. The ones who would run around cooking or things like that.
"Forgive me when I don't return the sentiment." That was a lie. Rush was at least happy that there were people waking up. Scott and TJ waking were a good sign that others would be soon to follow. That was the most he could hope for. At least he'd managed to tap into the power systems to find that the Destiny had charged up which caused the release of his pod. "There was a malfunction, Lieutenant. I can't guarantee anyone else will wake up. We knew the risks going in, with the possibility of never waking up. I don't even know how long we were in there." Rush turned away from both of the awakened crew. "I can't do anything about it." And he hated when he couldn't do anything about something. Think, think, think. There had to be something they could do.

TJ Checking the Console
- There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the pods. A diagnostic shows they are working perfectly. - If she tries to activate the pods, nothing happens. When trying to assess the error, nothing comes up as wrong. - The console shows that those in the pods are still alive.

One thing was certain, the stasis didn't change Rush one bit and he was all business like from the first moment she stepped up and asked him how he was. While her question could be related to her role aboard the Destiny - she was the lead medic in the expedition - TJ worried about the crew on a personal level. She wasn't close to all of them but she cared deeply about same of them and she wanted to be sure they were okay.
"You look okay," she told Rush with a cheeky grin since he didn't feel the need to let her know if he was okay or not and chose only to address her other question. "A malfunction uh?" TJ bit her lip lightly and looked from Rush to the pods. "Maybe they will open gradually..." she mused with a shrug and as she moved to one of the console a third pod began to open.
TJ smiled broadly at the sight of Scott and rolled her eyes at Rush at the older man's reaction to Scott's obvious happiness. She moved closer to Scott. "How do you feel?" she didn't have her medical equipment to give either man a check up but she could check Scott's pulse and just ask a couple question to access his condition. Rush went on to explain that he had no idea how long they were on stasis and that he didn't know whether anyone else would wake up or not. Rush was being his cheerful self.
"I guess this is a waiting game now," TJ remarked after she examined Scott. "I'm sure they will wake up soon," she flashed both men a smile. TJ had to stay positive. She squeezed Scott's arm and moved back to her console to run a diagnostic. She knew Rush had already done that, but she wanted to look over the data and maybe see if there was any medical abnormality with any of pods. That was her main concern.
"Everything checks out," TJ muttered under her breath as she checked diagnostics results. "The good news is that they are all alive. Any idea where Destiny is?" she asked Rush. He had told her he didn't know how long they had been sleeping but maybe he knew where the ship was. "Maybe that could give us an idea how far the ship traveled and an estimate on how long we've been sleeping?"

As he entered the room Matthew glanced around at the computers and other consoles. It was good to see Rush running diagnostics. Maybe the rest of the crew would wake soon. That would be good. It would be nice to see everyone in one room again. Despite having been asleep for.. how long had it been? Despite the missing pieces, which he had faith in the doctor, that would soon fall into place, he was curious to learn what had transpired when they had been out. For all he knew; it could have been weeks, months, years. It was scary to think anything beyond that conception. That everything inside this ship had remained the same, and everything out there had changed, developed, gotten stronger, faster, more scary. Scott found himself clenching jaw causing the muscles to harden. He felt a sudden wave of strength, and renewed vigor crash over his soul. He thought back to the face had seen in the pod. It was God. It had to be. As Rush and Tamara acknowledged his appearance, except for Rush who had his own ways of showing interest, Tamara seemed to be her cheerful self. That made Scott happy. He smiled at her even as she had her back turned momentarily. So he just stood there with his arms crossed watching the doctor and the medic work their magic. He simply just frowned at his uselessness. For the moment he felt out of his league. Computers, computer code, other computer stuff.
It was all the same to him. However, give him a brick of C4 and he would make sure no enemy computer would be able to broadcast any more crucial intelligence. He just watched as they ran a diagnostic. As Rush returned the gesture.. Scott felt himself grow more indignant of his position, but he held his posture, and watched Tamara instead as he spoke to the doctor, "It's alright, doctor. The situation calls for direct action. I wouldn't be offended if you had to focus on the task at hand. Just make sure the pods are functioning. I know you can fix the malfunction. If anybody aboard this ship, now, can fix it, we need you right now. I know you can do it. Command made sure they enlisted the best people for this mission. They didn't recruit what ifs, maybes, and sort ofs. We are the only ones out here. God help us, if they dont wake up." it was then that Scott was realizing he was sounding like the Colonel. His eyes flickered to the back of Rush's head. As if he would just turn around and address him as Colonel. When he didn't Scott found himself staring at the console between them. It wasn't until Tamara turned around and approached him did Scott feel like part of the crew again, and not some superficial third wheel in the back of the room. The best he could have offered were words of support. He was no technician.
As TJ approached him with that welcoming and warm smile on her face it made Scott return the smile. "I'm good TJ, I promise." he nodded solemnly at her as she squeezed his arm and turned back to her console, but he had his doubts about the situation, refusing to share them. Then Scott's eyes flashed as he realized something. "So uh, do we know anything about these pods? I mean, is there anything in the ships logs about their after effects. There has to be some form of side effect. Like, sleep sickness. I don't mean to bring people down, or distract you from the task at hand, but we should be prepared for everything, right?" he then moved over to a console along the display board. He ran his hand over the 3D display HUD, staring profoundly at what it all meant. His hand hovering over the keyboard. He waved his hand back and forth as if it would activate the display. But when nothing happened he simply just pouted. "I wish I understood this stuff. I'd be more help." talk about feeling like a third wheel. He looked up at TJ still running diagnostics. As she spoke to Rush about where they were and inquired about their length of sleep. Then a beep occurred on his console and he began to push the "cancel" button, mashing the button hoping the process would stop. "Crap," he said broadly, "stupid computer, what are you.." it made another beep. Great.
Just perfect. Scott tried another button but it just made another sound and a sub-screen popped up. He was getting nervous. And he had no idea what he was doing. Or why the computer decided to act up. Or how to stop it. So he just pushed buttons as alien code scrawled past the screen. He clenched his jaw nervously as he watched the text display across the screen. He raised his hands in the air defiantly at shoulder length as if to tell the computer he hadn't done anything. But then the sub-screen changed to "English?" he said aloud, "Well that works, I think." even though he had no idea what he was looking at. He folded an arm against his chest, as he pressed the thumb of his other hand to his chin, ponderously. "Um, guys." he scrolled the text again to make sure his eyes were seeing what his brain was reading. "According to the console I think I found.. oh, that's not good." the screen flashed messages at him. This time he understood exactly what it was trying to tell him. "It's just numbers and letters. But I can tell from the submessages that the ship sustained some sort of damage. Minor. Luckily the ship managed to, I think, when we were asleep activated defense measures to keep the crew safe. But somewhere along the way the shield malfunctioned. An asteroid caught the ship starboard and knocked out life-support in one of the rooms." He exhaled, lightly.
He hoped he was reading that right. "I don't think it was a room that we explored yet. We should probably still run a ship repair diagnostic, or whatever you call it." he looked up at the pair, "Just to be safe."

There was no time to waste on pleasantries, as Rush was more worried about the ship and the crew waking up so they could at least function properly. At least so far nothing had gone severely wrong that they knew about, mostly culminating in their crew was asleep and they didn't know where they were or how long they had been in the pods. Three years was the original estimate but who knew if they actually were able to make it here in that time. They could've been floating along for thousands of years. However, it would be curious that those on Earth had not found a way in the meantime to help them. Perhaps something happened, or there just weren't planets that would work.
"Yes, a waiting game. Can't do anything right now at least," Rush confirmed. However, information was their primary concern. Rush was just about to run out of the room they were in when Scott began to speak. Rush hurried to look behind the lieutenant and tried to move him out of the way so he could see it himself. This whole situation was much harder than he thought it was going to be, but what else did he expect in a typical day on the Destiny. At least they weren't fighting off drones any more… well hopefully not. It would be bad if some of them followed somehow. No, they couldn't, he reassured himself. An asteroid. That was all. Taking in a breath of relief he moved away from the console Scott had been on and looked at the two that had awakened.
What he needed to do was make sure everyone in the pods were safe, but he also needed to get to the bridge and know what they were dealing with. He needed to make sure where they were, that they had made it. They had made it to the galaxy they had been aiming for. And then he had to try to contact Earth. Then he had to check out the galaxy and what their sensors picked up. He had to so many things to do. There was so little time it felt to do it. If Eli or Volker or Brody or anyone on his science team woke up he would love the help, even if the most important things would go to him. "Alright, here's what we're going to do. You're both going to stay here. Who knows how the others will react when they wake up. They might need medical attention. You'll be more help here than distracting me, yes? Now, if Eli or anyone else who could help me, send them my way, otherwise, keep them out of my hair."
Rush took a deep breath and turned around to walk down the hall as his mind began to work on the problems. Hopefully something bad wouldn't happen, or something didn't happen. It would be bad if they'd been asleep for thousands of years, or if this galaxy was worse than the last. Clearing his head he made his way to the bridge.

Dark... that was all he could think of. It was dark and cold and as quiet as the grave. The thought of the grave sent a shiver down his spine. Or was it all in his head? Eli couldn't tell if he was awake or dreaming. Was he still trying to fix the stasis pod so he could join his friends and the others in cryrosleep or was he in stasis dreaming he was trying to decide if he really was dreaming?
He suddenly realized he could move and he shivered again. It was cold, then a breeze brushed against his face, blowing back his bangs. Slowly his eyes opened and Eli realized he was in the Stasis pod, except now it was open once more and he was awake. Looking straight ahead he saw other Stasis pods, still closed and humming softly. They were still functional and their occupants still asleep. For one brief moment Eli thought his pod had malfunctioned, waking him up long before it should. A deep breath revealed the air wasn't stagnant and there was plenty of lights on, far more than those left on while he worked.
"I'm awake!" Eli announced more to himself than anybody else as he couldn't see anybody else. Stepping carefully out of the pod he checked the gages. "Now why is nobody else awake?"
As far as he could tell the pod deactivated on its' own but he didn't think it was a malfunction. The rest were fine and it was then he noticed at last one other pod as open. Feeling excited and relieved he wasn't the only one awake Eli started heading towards the control area. If anybody was up first they would likely be trying to check on the status of Destiny. If not then he could do so and it'll be that much easier to find out who was awake and where.
It didn't take him long to see a few people, all in the nearby control room. "You can't believe what a relief it is to see you guys. For a minute I thought I was the only one awake again and I just dreamed fixing the last Pod."

TJ was relieved to hear Scott was alright. So far no one seemed to be feeling any side effects from the stasis which was a good side. It would take their bodies some time to adjust to being awake again but other than some slight discomfort and maybe muscle pain TJ didn't anticipate any medical issues. The pods had malfunctioned in some way but hadn't affected anyone.
She glanced at Scott and shook her head. "I don't think we need to worry about any side effects, Scott." She glanced back at her console for a moment. "Maybe some fatigue but other than I don't expect any issues but in any case, let me know if you feel anything unusual." she suggested. It was the only thing she could do now. He had said he was good and Rush didn't seem to be feeling anything out of the ordinary either.
TJ tried not to laugh when Scott began struggling with his console. It surprised him Rush didn't snap at Scott for touching the computer in the first place so maybe there were some side effects from the pods. TJ kept those thoughts to herself though. She moved over to Scott's side when he alerted them about a problem in the life support in one of the sections of the ship. "We probably should investigate that as soon as possible," TJ agreed with Scott that they needed to check that room. She just wasn't sure this was the time. "Maybe we can just lock that section for now..." her voice trailed off. Scott was the ranking military officer at the moment and he would determine their next action.
Rush didn't seem all that interested and decided to order them to stay put while he went off to do something Rush like. TJ almost smirked at the way Rush was dismissing him. Before TJ could agree or disagree with Rush he was out. She glanced at Scott and shrugged. "Didn't you miss him?" she remarked cheekily and her attention was drawn to the console that was indicating another of the pods began to come to life. "Someone else is up," TJ remarked with a quick look at Scott. She stepped away from the console with the intent to go check the pod when Eli suddenly came out and TJ's smiled broadly. "Eli!" she stepped up to the younger man and hugged him. "I'm so glad you fixed that pod." TJ said with a genuine affection towards the young genius.
"It's just us, she motioned Scott as she gave one step back releasing Eli from her embrace. "And Rush so far."

As glad as he was to see TJ and Matt he was rather surprised when TJ headed straight for him and gave him a hug. Not that he minded, he did enjoy hugs but he hadn't expected it. It was nice to feel missed even if it felt like just a few days ago when TJ and Matt were put into the Stasis Pod and just yesterday when he finally was able to join them.
"Me too," Eli replied, returning TJ's hug. "I am glad to see you two awake even if it just feels like I said goodbye to you both only a couple days ago."
After the hug Eli spotted his Kino remote right were he had left it and quickly stepped forward to pick it up. This definitely had to be recorded, the first people to wake up. As he tapped at the controls to activate the Kino and send it hovering so it can capture the three of them easily Eli heard Rush was also awake.
"So just the four of us so far? I really hope the others wake up soon," Eli looked up from his Kino. "Want to say anything about what it's like to wake up after several years or more of being in Stasis?" He glanced at first TJ then Matt, wanting to get their first impressions recorded before he tracked down Rush. He was certain the older scientist would want his help.
