Overall Personality: Eli is a very likable person and tries to get along with everybody. He is bright and knows it but he doesn’t have a superiority complex as some would with his level of genius. Eli is very much a child, loves to play video games, watch movies and joke around. After being on the Destiny his eyes have opened to a whole universe of possibilities but he finds it hard to shake his usual slacker way of life. He has been trying to step and do his part as he gains more confidence in himself. Eli is the ‘best friend’ of many people due to his friendly and sweet nature. He tries not to let things affect him personally but he is often deeply affected by the pain and suffering of those around him. He is loyal to his friends and stands by them even when it may be dangerous to do so. He doesn’t like to take sides in the political struggles between Dr. Rush and Colonel Young but he does realize they all do have to work together to survive. He does stand for what he personal believes in and isn’t afraid to challenge Dr. Rush if he feels he is wrong. Eli has trouble taking charge but when put to the test he proves he is quite capable if he puts his mind to the task. | |
History: Eli is an only child of Marion Wallace. His father left them both when Eli was 14 not long after Marion (an ER Nurse) contracted HIV while trying to restrain a drug addict. Having his father run out on them left Eli upset and unwilling to become the ‘man of the house’. Marion was able to raise her son alone till he was old enough to attend MIT. Despite being a genius Eli didn’t take well to live at University and dropped out before he gained his degree. After that he lived at home with his mother spending most of his time playing video games and shirking responsibilities. His mother continued to work but struggled with paying for the medicine needed to keep her HIV in check. Eli struggled to find a job he liked enough to stick to and the worry about his mother being able to keep up with the payments for her medication tended to make him hide in his video games more and more. Eli spent nearly a month trying to solve a puzzle presented in one of his favourite video games, ‘Prometheus’ at the end. A complex mathematical challenge in an alien language had to be solved to complete the game. Eli eventually figured it out but was quite disappointed when all that happened in the game was a restart of that section. Not long after he was visited by an Air Force Lt. General Jack McNeal and Dr. Nicolas Rush and he was thrust into an adventure he never expected or would believe if it wasn’t happening to him. Learning of the Star Gate and travelling to different plants it was like a dream come true for Eli and oddly enough he adjusted to changes fairly well. The challenges he faced once aboard the Destiny had allowed him to grow in a way he wouldn’t have done back on Earth. When it was necessary to put the crew in stasis to survive the next jump between galaxies but one status pod was malfunctioning, Eli surprised all by stepping up and volunteering to be the one to fix it. Being completely alone on the Ancient starship Eli was able to focus all his intellectual skills and abilities into solving the problem. Oddly enough the solution wasn’t as complex as he feared it was more thinking outside of the box that allowed him to find the trick. Unfortunately it did require some messing around of the control systems for the Stasis Pods to fix the final pod but in the end he was able to put himself in stasis with hours to spare before Destiny would need to shut down all life support to make it across the space between galaxies. All Eli could hope for was his modifications to the controls didn’t cause any malfunctions he didn’t foresee. He didn’t want to die and knew he had to get into the pod sooner rather than later to ensure Destiny didn’t fall short and force them all to spend an unknown amount of time in Stasis as the ship drifted the remaining distance across the gap. The last thing Eli remembered after stepping inside the Stasis pod was the sound of the door closing. |
